Authorities seized 200 complete video gambling machines as well as parts from hundreds of others during the second day of a sweep through South Carolina.

The machines and parts, which are illegal to own, were found Thursday in warehouses in Charleston, Spartanburg and Little River.

Video gambling was outlawed in the state three years ago. When the sweep began Wednesday, authorities found 21 video gambling machines, 12 of which were taken from a Greenville convenience store.

"We went to over 700 business locations and only found 21 machines," Stewart said. "However, we developed information that all of these machines had not left the state."

Thursday, authorities used those tips to go to warehouses and seize more machines.

Stewart said he was not sure how many times SLED agents have seized such machines since the state Supreme Court shut down the video gambling industry in July 2000.

"It's a continuous process," Stewart said.
