Did you know that? Abraham Lincoln's words: "The Union, it must be preserved." After a year of conflict, the Union was doing poorly, so in January, 1863 Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, nearly two years AFTER war broke out. The Proclamation only applied to Confederate states. Slavery was still perfectly legal in the Union states of Maryland, Delaware, Missouri, Kentucky and parts of W. VA. Fair is fair; therefore, the Union slave states should replace THEIR flags and leave South Carolina live with it's rightful heritage. Please get your facts straight, Governor. You will look much, much more intelligent.
