(Spartanburg-AP) The man challenging Governor Mark Sanford's right to hold office says he has filed dozens of lawsuits against government agencies to see that they follow the law. Edward D. Sloan Junior's latest suit says Sanford cannot under the state Constitution be governor and hold a commission in the US Air Force Reserve.

The case was argued before the high court earlier this month.  No ruling has been made. Seventy-four-year-old Sloan, of Greenville, says making sure the law is enforced is a good way to get bad laws changed. Sloan says he's filed about 30 lawsuits in the past six years.

Sloan says most are against local governments that have failed to seek bids before procuring construction projects as required under state law. Many of Sloan's lawsuits are on appeal or pending.

Sloan does not attempt to profit from his lawsuits, usually seeking only reimbursement for his expenses.
