SC Counties Approved for Emergency Conservation Program Funding

COLUMBIA---Agricultural officials in South Carolina say that while feed and forage shortages are concerns for livestock producers, the primary issue in the state seems to be the lack of water sources.

Ken Rentiers, Executive Director of the SC USDA Farm Service Agency, announced that all counties in South Carolina have been approved for Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) funding though the USDA-FSA. ECP funds will be used to provide emergency water for livestock and orchards.

An ECP signup is being held through August 31, 2002. Late filed application will be accepted. Livestock (confined and non-confined) and orchard producers in approved counties suffering severe water shortages should immediately contact their local USDA-Farm Service Agency office.

From Greenville, follow highway 183 towards Pickens. Turn right at highway 162 towards Dacusville. In Dacusville, turn right onto highway 186 towards Marietta. From highway 186, turn left on Pace Bridge Road. Dacusville Farm Days will be on the left on Pace Bridge Road.
