COLUMBIA, S.C. -- It seems that many South Carolinians are eager to meet with their new governor.
Gov. Mark Sanford held his first 'Open Door After 4' office-hours session with the public on Wednesday evening.
The 47 slots for the five-minute meetings filled up within minutes on Wednesday afternoon, as did appointments for two additional events over the next month.
In his state of the state speech two weeks ago, Sanford said he would hold public office hours each month.
Visitors were be required to bring photo identification and their Social Security number for security purposes.
So many people signed up for the first open-door session, that they filled up the waiting lists for the next two events.
Sanford added an extra session for Feb. 19 in addition to a scheduled session in March.
