(Columbia) - It
was just another lazy afternoon among old friends, but they
weren't just any other guys and their playground was actually
backstage at the governor's inaugural barbeque at the state
farmers market.
While everyone was preparing for the
main event, award-winning recording artists, The Tams, were
out back goofing off. "Anywhere, everywhere we booked at, we
play [dominos]," said Tams singer Joe Jones.
Even
though they were honored to play for the first family, the
first thing they were concerned with was the scoreboard.
"We'll let the band do the sound check and then when it's time
to do the show, we do the show with the band," said Jones.
The Tams are famous for hits such as, "What Kind of
Fool," which reached No. 1 on the R&B charts and No. 6 on
the Top 40 in 1963.
The Swingin' Medallions and
Lancaster native and country music singer Julie Roberts also
took the stage.
Thirteen barbeque vendors were invited
to serve the thousands of people who attended. Tickets were
$60 per person and free for children under 12.
