My Mom lives on a very limited income of $840.00 month from Social Security and gets Section 8 assistance which she is very thankful for. She was notified a few months ago that her rent was going up $50.00 at Forrest Ridge Apartments in Fort Mill and that she would have to find a new place to live because the voucher would not cover it the increase ($50.00 more). My sister, mom and I have been searching for months to find her a place to move but with no success. This has put severe undue stress on my mom and quite honestly she has gotten nothing but the run around when trying to get help with finding somewhere to move. The added stress has comprised her overall well being. She is supposed to be out by next Thursday but has yet to find a place to go. She is terrified of being evicted. I guess I am writing in an effort to get answers. If a complex has an agreement with the government to take Section 8, how can they increase the rent without Section 8 increasing the benefit? She found two apartments and a house but they were $50.00 over the Section 8 voucher and she was told she could not pay the difference. I am sure there are many more displaced elderly that must be going through the same thing as my mom. We have exhausted all avenues that we know of. We had wanted to keep her close to us in Fort Mill so we could keep an eye on her but we have looked in Rock Hill as well. Any assistance you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. 12.54.94.108
