I am the daughter of a SC Farmer, and I have seen first hand the devastating toll taken on Farmers from the flood. There has been no option to salvage crops at this point, if the crops themselves were not already ruined, then they are surely ruined from not being able to access the fields. I was unaware at first of the gravity this flood had taken on farms until just recently. As if it wasn't bad enough while it was flooding, months later farmers are still at a total loss. Their equipment is being ruined, any salvageable crops are perishing right before their eyes, and the possibility of recouping is becoming more unlikely every day. I am sure there are "reasons" for farmers not receiving direct aid, but the only thing I ask is that they are given a chance to be considered. Most farmer live on their farm land, their jobs are producing crops from their land. If South Carolina Farmers are not considered for direct aid, not only will they lose their "jobs", but we are putting them at risk to potentially losing everything! Please help South Carolina Farms! Flooding in South Carolina caused millions of dollars in damages to farmers, and we need relief. We are asking you, as our Representative, to request $376 million from Congress for crop loss in addition to the $140 million Governor Haley is requesting for home restoration costs. SC farmers are a backbone of our great state, and we need relief too! Please Governor Haley, request the $376 million crop loss fund too! Sincerely, Ashleigh B. Yarborough- Friend Field Farms
