Newcomers to the S.C. House of Representatives:

• Nikki Haley, R-Lexington, freshman caucus chairwoman — Business owner, accountant; defeated Larry Koon, R-Lexington, in District 87 primary

• Joseph H. Jefferson Jr., D-Berkeley, vice chairman — County magistrate; replaces retiring Amos Gourdine, D-Berkeley, in District 102

• Ralph W. Norman, R-York, secretary — Real estate developer; replaces retiring Becky Richardson, R-York, in District 48

• Paul Agnew, D-Abbeville — Attorney; replaces retiring Harry Stille, R-Abbeville, in District 11

• Carl Anderson, D-Georgetown — Minister, insurance agent; defeated Bubber Snow, R-Williamsburg, in District 103

• Nathan Ballentine, R-Richland — Vice president, Wachovia Mortgage Corp.; defeated House Majority Leader Rick Quinn, R-Richland, in District 71 primary

• Joan Brady, R-Richland — Former Arcadia Lakes mayor, Richland County councilwoman; replaces Joel Lourie, D-Richland, in District 78; Lourie was elected to the Senate

• Richard Chalk, R-Beaufort — Commercial real estate agent; replaces retiring JoAnne Gilham, R-Beaufort, in District 123

• Laurie Slade Funderburk, D-Kershaw — Lawyer; won District 52 seat in June special election and again Nov. 2, replaces Vincent Sheheen, D-Kershaw, who won Senate seat

• Nelson Hardwick, R-Horry — Business owner; replaces retiring Tom Keegan, R-Horry, in District 106

• David R. Hiott, R-Pickens — Print company owner; defeated Teddy Trotter, R-Pickens, in District 4 primary

• Ted Vick, D-Chesterfield — Businessman; replaces retiring Mary Beth Freeman, D-Chesterfield, in District 53
