We started this process in May, 2015 and were told we would be approved by September or early October. Now it is mid to late December and we have yet to be approved to foster children in need of loving homes. I am a registered nurse and am passionate to help others, my husband is a caring, loving father who also wants to help children in need, and my 8 year old stepson believes all children should have a safe home to live and grow up in. While we can only imagine the numerous tasks you and other government employees have, we also imagine all of the hardships these many children of South Carolina face that are lacking loving homes. We just want to understand why there is such a high need, but it is taking so long. We feel we are a great match for many children out there that need stability until they can be reunited with their parents or their forever family. Is there anything we can do to make this process better, not just for us but for all. Our goal is to help children in need. I read an article from last January that alleges a lawsuit against you and your appointed director. What can we do to fix this? There are so many people that want to help this situation and they can, but some direction is needed. There are so many articles out about abused children in the system and we need to turn it around. We can turn it around! We really want to help and change this process, but a generic response is not going to do it. I am sure people are constantly writing with amazing views and agendas, and mine may seem small town but the children in the system are important and the process needs to be revamped to where people who can truly help, like my family, are not sitting idly by with resources that could help a child in need. Thank you Chrystal Williams and James Turner (843) 957-5707
