Working Field Test Drives Put GMC Trucks to the Test

MOULTRIE, GA---GMC Trucks, a partner of the Sunbelt Agricultural Expo since 1991, expands its crowd-pleasing working field test-drives October 16-18, in Moultrie, Georgia.

GMC’s professional grade trucks like the Sierra Heavy Duty Crew Cab with dual rear wheels will be hard at work demonstrating their toughness and towing capabilities.  “We’re looking forward to an extensive display that will showoff how well our trucks handle serious towing loads,” said Greg Ross, Assistant Regional Marketing Manager, GMC Trucks.  “The Sunbelt Expo is a perfect opportunity to showcase GMC Trucks to people who know and love trucks.”

For almost a century, GMC Trucks have been a staple in the farming community.  Today, GMC continues to bring the latest technologies, like the DURAMAX Diesel engine and QUADRASTEER the first ever four-wheel steering system for full-size pickups, to market.

DURAMAX Diesel was voted Best-in-class horsepower and torque delivering a whopping 300 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque.  DURAMAX is comprised of a 90-degree, direct fuel injection, overhead valve, and four valves per cylinder, turbocharged V8 diesel engine.  DURAMAX can be teamed with the Allison 1000 five-speed, automatic transmission.  Special features like full electronic control of shift timing and hill braking give the Allison medium-duty truck transmission the capability to meet and exceed your farm requirements.

GMC is just as proud of their all-new four-wheel steering system.  QUADRASTEER brings groundbreaking maneuverability, stability and control to GMC’s powerhouse trucks.  Not to be confused with four-wheel drive (4WD), QUADRASTEER is four-wheel steering that engages both front and rear wheels for superior steering control, particularly handy when backing trailers and maneuvering in tight spots.

How does QUADRASTEER accomplish this control?  It is done electronically, based on speed.  At lower speeds, the rear wheels turn opposite the front wheels.  At moderate speeds, the rear wheels stay essentially straight.  At higher speeds, they turn in the same direction as the front wheels.

QUADRASTEER will be available on the Sierra Denali this October.  Soon thereafter, it will be available on the extended cab short box GMC Sierra and the GMC Yukon XL.

GMC understands farmers are constantly looking for smarter, more cost-effective upgrades to operate their farms.  GMC Trucks are equipped to get the job done.  Be sure to make time for a real world test drive and learn how GMAC can tailor your payment plan to your harvest income.

The Sunbelt Expo show hours are from 8:30 am to 5 pm Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 8:30 am to 4 pm on Thursday. The three-day show will be held at Spence Field; four miles southeast of US Hwy 319 on Highway 133 near Moultrie, GA. Admission is $5 per day, per person.
