Dear Honorable Haley,  I have recently been informed that Gov. Hogan, Maryland has submitted a bill which will allow a state tax exemption for retired Police, Fire, and other retired public servants.  Are you considering a similar bill for South Carolina?  I had 27 years employment with the private sector prior to working for the Baltimore City Fire Department.  Because I drew a pension for 15 + years, my Social Security benefits have been greatly reduced; by almost 50%.  I'm not wealthy by a long shot and moved to South Carolina because the Maryland taxes were far too burdensome for my spouse and myself, both blue collar workers.  Too, we really liked this area and wanted to retire here.  I have been following your political policies and views, but have not read anything regarding your stance on the aforementioned.  Too, we have not registered to vote yet and any information you can give me stating your position with regard to protecting your middle class population, would be greatly appreciated.
