Governor Hodges Issues Friendly Baseball/BBQ Challenge to Texas Governor Rick Perry

Columbia, S.C. - Governor Hodges today issued a friendly baseball/barbeque challenge to Texas Governor Rick Perry. Governor Perry has accepted the challenge.

The deal's terms are simple. After the baseball team from South Carolina wins the championship at Saturday's College World Series game in Omaha, Governor Perry will send ten pounds of a baked meat that Texans consider barbeque to Governor Hodges.

On the off chance that the University of Texas ekes out a victory in Saturday's game, Governor Hodges will send ten pounds of authentic South Carolina barbeque to Governor Perry.

"On Saturday, an outstanding baseball team from South Carolina will pass over a small Texas speed bump en route to winning the national championship," said Governor Hodges. "I figured I might as well get some free barbeque along the way."

Governor Hodges' original wager with his colleague called for five pounds of barbeque for the winner. However, Governor Perry upped the wager from five pounds of barbeque to ten, thus proving that everything is indeed bigger in Texas.

Governor Perry (who for some reason disagrees with Governor Hodges' forecast for Saturday's game) said "The Longhorns are showing the rest of the country that we play hardball in Texas. The University of Texas has represented our state proudly, and has shown all the focus and heart of champions."

The championship game of the College World Series will be played in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday, June 22.
