A weekly peek into the world of the state's penny-pincher-in-chief -- Gov. Mark Sanford.

Gov. Mark Sanford is a self-avowed fitness nut.

And considering the governor needed private donations to keep the Governor's Mansion running, there wasn't exactly room in the budget for exercise equipment.

So Sanford had his weight bench brought to Columbia from the family's Sullivan's Island home.

But instead of paying movers, Sanford had press secretary Will Folks bring it down on the aide's own time. When said aide -- and his mother -- stuck their hands out for a tip afterward, Sanford slapped their hands and said, "Thanks!"
