COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Department of Public
Safety will use a $1.6 million National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration grant to continue a program to reduce alcohol-related
traffic accidents.
The grant will help pay for "Sober or Slammer" holiday media
campaigns.
The Office of Highway Safety's two-week media campaign around the
Fourth of July this year helped reduce traffic fatalities by 39
percent compared with a year earlier, the Department of Public
Safety
said.
