I live on a private dirt rd in Colleton County, SC. I have talked to a local lawyer/magistrate and a member of my local county government and they both have told me that the owner of the road is responsible for upkeep.  The road is so bad that at times I cannot get to my home. I have talked to the owner of the road and he tells me that we do not have a maintenance agreement therefore he doesn't have to do anything. He is right in the fact that we (the people that live on the road) do not have any agreement to take care of his road. I think it only fair that people be able to get to and from there home. I have been told that no one will help me because his Grandfather was a justice on the SC Supreme Court. He is the realtor who sold all the lots on this road and at one time sold the road itself and then sued for non-payment to get it back. I have a mentally challenged adult that lives with me and he attends a day program.  They will not come pick him up because of the road. He is expected to walk up the road.  The county maintains part of the road but they refuse to grade the part I live on because they say its a private road.  Its tearing up my car. I need someone to help me. I cannot financially fix this road nor do I feel like I should. The realtor has taken advantage of the people. If he wanted property owners to maintain the road he should have put that in his contract when he sold all this property.    Please find someone to help me and my neighbors.  Thank you for your time.
