As a concerned citizen of South Carolina, I am wondering what the future holds for our state and our nation. The current issue of the transgender bathroom use is one that cannot be ignored by anyone in a position of authority. It is not the fact of people's personal liberties, but it is a matter of protecting people from those who are not stable or trustworthy. We are currently facing an issue that determines whether policies can be dictated by the President, or whether or not the rights of individual states still exist. I implore you to make an official stand on this issue. It is already affecting schools in Horry County and will continue to spread all across the state. People have the right to make their own choices and live life in their own way. However, DNA cannot be dismissed or denied. IT is even more than that. The issue of those who would use this loophole to allow themselves access to the innocent. I am survivor of childhood sexual abuse. I cannot imagine my children sharing a restroom with someone of the opposite sex; ultimately opening the door for those who commit such acts to perform them. If someone chooses to identify with a gender that is not their biological origin, that is their right. However, they should be willing to respect the sanctity of others. We are faced with deciding for the next generation the structure of our society and family. I believe that you are a Governor with principles, morals, and integrity. I beg you to please let the people of SC know where you stand. Please stand with State's rights and individual liberty. May God Bless you and continue to prosper your governorship. We are proud of you and all you have accomplished for our state! Sincerely, Rev. Lester Steedley
