Governor, as a very small contributer to your campaign, I feel a small personal connection with your role and the people of South Carolina. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your citizens as you recover from the recent torrential rains. 

I drove down I-95 last weekend and knew there were parts of the Interstate closed but had heard the detour was smooth and relatively painless. I was very pleased to find those rumors to be true. You are to be congratulated.  

The only downside was the uncertainty of not knowing if I was gong the right way or had become lost. After the initial markings when leaving I95 there was no signage until almost in Columbia. I was driving at 3am so traffic did not make it obvious. I realize that periodic and repetitive markings could be confusing and expensive but I did come up with something that might help. Hopefully the closure will be ended before you even read this but in case it persists here is a suggestion that would be helpful for all drivers through S.C. 

Place an electronic text sign prior to the exits north and southbound that explain the detour e.g.

I-95 CLOSED Southbound exits xx through yy. Detour exits are clearly marked. 
Detour via I-20 West nn miles to exit zz 
I-77 South nn miles to exit zz
I-26 East .......
Etc. 
Total additional travel time approximately 45-60 minutes
