I am the Senior Systems analyst for the Radiation Oncology department at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston SC. Our department has the great honor of providing healthcare services for our veterans from the Ralph H. Johnson VA hospital of Charleston South Carolina. Providing these services requires our clinicians to have access to the VA's patient's health records. Over the past 8 years we have accessed these records through a secure, howbeit, antiquated Terminal Services via Remote Desktop. The system is old and unreliable and offline more than it is online. When this system is down our clinicians are unable to access the vital medical records required to provide our veterans the best care possible. To their credit, the VA has put in place a new VPN portal for remote access to VA medical records. Our current situation is we our consistently unable to access the vital records and nobody from the VA, who we have been in contact with since 10/1/2015, knows the correct process to grant our clinicians access to the new and more reliable VPN system. This is severely hampering our staff's ability to access vital health records in a timely manner. Any help your office could provide to help us resolve this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jay Callahan Senior Systems Analyst\OCIO Medical University of South Carolina Radiation Oncology 843-792-7923
