A Greenville man is dead after his bicycle was hit by two cars, including a state Highway Patrol car, authorities say.

Jerry Levon Rosemond, 53, was crossing Buncombe Road on a bicycle when a Highway Patrol car and then another car struck him, said Greenville County Deputy Coroner Karie Cain. Rosemond died on the scene, near Montgomery Street, at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, she said.

Lance Cpl. Steve Sluder confirmed the accident and directed questions to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

A reconstruction team and other investigators are looking into the wreck, said sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Shea Smith.
