TRIAL BALANCE – CURRENT MONTH

REPORT TITLE: Trial Balance - Current Month.

FILE(S) ACCESSED: History File, General Ledger File.

USER AGENCIES: Lump-sum agencies.

FREQUENCY: This report is distributed weekly (each Monday) but presents current-fiscal-month-to-date figures.

REPORT TYPE/PURPOSE: This financial accounting report shows month-to-date summary totals of all general ledger accounts. The report can be used by lump-sum agencies to monitor STARS general ledger account balances during the fiscal month until the monthly reports are received. The CSA 404 General Fund Control and Cash Status Report, which gives cash balances only by fund group for lump-sum agencies; differs from this report, which presents cash balances by subfund.

COLUMN HEADINGS AND DESCRIPTION OF DATA IN EACH COLUMN:

(No heading): STARS general ledger account number and title. See General Ledger Account Codes and Titles.

SFDT: Subfund detail code. See Fund Component - Subfund Detail.

FDT: Fund detail code. See Fund Component - Fund Detail.

FD: Fund code. See Fund Component - Fund and Fund Codes.

SFDT TITLE: Subfund detail code title.

PROJ: Project code. See Project Component..

PH: Project phase code. See Project Component - Project Phase.

BEGINNING BALANCE: Balance at the beginning of the fiscal month. (Debits are shown as positive, and credits are shown as negative.)

DEBIT: Debits posted during the current fiscal month through the report run date.

CREDIT: Credits posted during the current fiscal month through the report run date.

ENDING BALANCE: Balance at the run date. (Debits are shown as positive, and credits are shown as negative.)

SORT ORDER: Agency, fund group, general ledger account, subfund detail, project, and phase.

OTHER FORMAT FEATURES: The agency code, agency name, fund group code, and fund group title are printed at the upper left of each page. Subtotals by agency, fund group, general ledger account, and subfund detail are printed. (It should be noted that if the prior fiscal month has not yet closed, the beginning balances on this report may change from one week to the next during the month.)

RELATED STARS REPORTS: This report is virtually the same as the CSA 403CM Trial Balance report. The CSA 403CM Trial Balance, however, is prepared after the month-end closing so it shows the final balances for the fiscal month.
