Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to address an issue that I am passionate about and one in which I feel does not garner enough attention. I am speaking on behalf of my fellow small business owners, who are in private practice providing mental health and behavioral health therapies to school aged kids and their families. We are a professional group that strives in provide quality care for our clients. We are held to standards of care that state agencies are not known to be held to, such as licensing, credentialing, higher learner without being compensated the same. Of course we are on the lower end of the spectrum with compensation, yet on the higher end with credentialing and qualification. This is a disparity that should be addressed. I heard this morning that you are considering incentives for teachers in high risk schools or with high risk students, here again, is a disparity. We work with those high risk students from those high risk schools, we assist in improving their behaviors at those schools, yet we do not get recognized or considered for any incentives. Teachers can get their student loans forgiven for working in those high risk schools, mental health counselors with the state mental health department, can get their student loans forgiven for working in rural areas, but therapist in private practice, who are small business owners, providing the same type of therapy does not benefit from any of these incentives. How can you address this? Promoting small businesses to succeed requires for small businesses to be apart of the larger plan. Often times, we are not. Please respond and thank you for your time. Be blessed. 1Love
