House Panel Delays Vote On Minibottle Bill
(Columbia-AP) -- A House Judiciary Committee delayed action on minibottles today at least until next week.

The move leaves doubt about whether the bill will have enough time to pass this session with just a few weeks remaining.

The bill has already passed the Senate. It would allow voters to decide the fate of minibottles.

Minibottles are one-point-seven-ounce liquor bottles that restaurant and bars are required to use when serving alcoholic drinks. South Carolina is the only state that requires the bottles.

Winnsboro Representative Creighton Coleman moved to adjourn debate on the bill before any discussion.

Charleston Representative John Graham Altman tried to table the motion, but it narrowly failed.

Coleman has said the state will lose six to seven million dollars if it dumps minibottles.
