I have been advocating for my wife who has given up hope finding affordable healthcare. Before Obama care took affect, she qualified for South Carolina Medicaid. Now she does not. We are a family of three, I am a quadriplegic on Medicare and Medicaid, my daughter is deaf and on Medicaid, and my wife has no coverage. We have been told that she does not qualify for state Medicaid is because my income is slightly higher than the limit is. I disagree and argue with a state Medicaid office. I am being told that I have family of two. I disagree because I have family of three. I do not understand why my daughter is not being counted as part of my family. My income is $1436 per month. That is under the guidelines for a family of three to qualify for Medicaid. Can you please help me understand why my wife does not qualify for Medicaid? When I applied to the federal marketplace they told me because I have no earned income I should qualify for Medicaid. Medicaid advised me I need to go to the federal marketplace. This is very confusing and I feel like we are being ignored and neglected. Please help me Gov. Haley.
