Wait time is ridiculous, reps are rude, never get anything accomplished but lies! 71.226.158.37 I am writing in regards to the Medicaid line that South Carolina has in place. It is by far the WORST thing I have ever had to experience. While pregnant, I qualified for SC Medicaid. My son started being covered under Medicaid once born (2012). This process was fairly smooth and no complaints. I never received any issues going to the doctors for myself or son, things were taken care of, and I did my part with the renewal paper work for my son as I became ineligible after that year. Well, 2014, my son turns 2. I do what I always do, fill out his paperwork, submitted it. But then my son had a yearly appointment coming up. The doctor's office called to state that my son was coming up inactive. I was taken back, nothing had changed since the time I filled out the paper work. So here I am, at 8 am calling getting the run around between Medicaid reps, EACH TIME BEING ON HOLD FOR 45 MINS or MORE!!) being told different stories about why he was not covered, which NONE of them made sense. The stories all seemed like a way to get off the phone and not handle the situation. One even stated that I didn't turn in the paper work but all of them said his account was closed. So I made a trip all the way to Medicaid office to speak with someone in person. After waiting over an hour, I finally spoke to someone. She pulled up the account and said how someone deactivated his account then created a new one but it wasn't fully completed. She was as confused as was I why this was. Of course she couldn't fix the IT issue and the person that could wasn't around. She said she would have this person fix the issue and call me back to let me know it was done. I clearly told her I didn't have much confidence that this would happen as I was told this issue was fixed by a rep and I also was to receive a new Medicaid card for him and never had. She gave me her number and then said she reordered a new card AGAIN. Here it is 2015, renewal time. I received the paperwork and what do you know. On my sons account, it listed as if I have 3 people in my home, 2 of which are the SAME person!! Called Medicaid, again, almost an hour wait, rude customer service, no confidence in the situation. BECAUSE, January 2015, I tried to get myself back on Medicaid, filled out the application, submitted it. Said to wait up to 45 days to hear something. March comes along and go to portal to check and no status update. I call regarding my application (long wait, rude service) to be told to check back in April. May 5 I call again (long wait, rude service) to be told they don't know why my application has been just sitting in limbo because it looks completed, that she will forward it on to approval. June I get a letter saying that I'm approved for the family planning only, fine, that MY card should be coming soon. Here it is October, numerous calls regarding mine and my sons card and each and every time I am told they are issuing us one. So needless to say we have not received one yet, but this letter isn't about not just receiving a card. Medicaid had me again today, for 45 minutes to answer the phone to say that the system is down and to call back. A HOUR ON HOLD FOR NOTHING. And this is not the first time this has happen either. The wait time, the customer service, the nonchalant attitudes and no regards for doing their job is an understatement and uncalled for. I am a hard worker, not someone who takes advantage of the system. At this point in my life, I relay on Medicaid but I don't intend to make this a forever situation, it is simply a crutch until the day (hopefully sooner than later) I can go back to a full-time job. Having to deal with Medicaid ruins peoples days. I am NOT the only person with Medicaid complaints. Our stories are all exactly alike. Something needs to be dealt with, if more reps are needed, people need jobs, if there is simply too many people on Medicaid, look into why that is. Medicaid reps should NOT be allowed to treat us, the customers, the way they do!!!!!!
