I have survived three deployments over the years, having both children alone while he was deployed. I would have to say the most difficult of all has been the past year and a half since he returned to the states and was diagnosed with PTSD. He was on medical hold in Norfolk, Va for nine months, a nightmare in itself!! The most difficult year of my life as a military spouse began on 1/12/15 when he abandoned his family to pursue an affair and I was unemployed for the first time in twenty years due to his deployment. I have two small children that are six and ten and because of his actions, lack of support from military personnel, constant errors made by DSS, lack of funds to retain a lawyer, we have come very close to being homeless. I am very thankful my parents have had the means to assist me. I have attempted to secure a job for over a year but have had no luck. I was employed with State Crédit Union for close to fifteen years before leaving to provide for my family during the last deployment. I am well educated and a devoted employee. DSS stated they were very sorry but could not help someone like me with a job because I was a rare applicant with a stable work history. I am writing not to complain but to share some of my concerns. I would love to provide some input on how we could work together to assist others that may find themselves in the same situation. Thank you, Tammy Trevathan
