Restructuring Bill Introduced in Senate
(Columbia-AP) -- Restructuring promises to be a weighty issue in the South Carolina Senate this year.

Senate President Pro Tem Glenn McConnell of Charleston introduced a restructuring bill this morning.

McConnell says the bill will give the Legislature a new role in overseeing how effectively state agencies spend money.

He says the bill strikes the proper balance between legislative and executive branches.

McConnell says his staff has worked since last summer on the proposal.

Governor Mark Sanford outlined many of his restructuring goals and his state budget last week.
