I moved from California just over a year ago to Hilton Head Island. I was surprised to hear that my car insurance rates were more than they were there. After driving on the island and in South Carolina I am shocked to see how many distracted drivers there are, the percentage of drivers who are focused on their phone calls and/or texts is no doubt cause for the amount of accidents that take place and in result the high cost of insurance. Most important deaths. When I drive to the airport in Georgia and read the billboard with the accidents/fatalities I wonder why this isn't being addressed! So many ignore the speed limits, ignore the fact that a stop light has turned red or is about to. This puts others in a position to speed to get out of peoples way or to run a light to not be rear ended. If you aren't already doing so please look around when you drive at the amount of people who are holding a phone in their car. Most of these cars are new so one would think they could have at least added blue tooth! When and how does this get addressed? The amount of revenue that could be generated from tickets issued would be substantial but more important would create a safer place to drive with less accidents and deaths.
