President Orders Flags at Half-Staff
(Washington-AP) -- Flags at the White House will fly at half-staff today for former Senator Strom Thurmond.

President Bush has ordered the lowering of all flags flown at government buildings. The White House says the president ordered the salute
"as a mark of respect" for Thurmond, the longest serving member of the United States Senate.

Bush is not attending the funeral.

Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld are attending.
