He was let go by the Spartanburg Herald Journal a few years ago and was not quite yet retirement age. Unable to find work he opted to begin collecting Social Security early. He tried to keep up ObamaCare payments of around $500 per month, but was unable to on such limited income, so he let the coverage lapse hoping to make it to age 65 and Medicare. He will turn 65 July 18, 2016, but fate took a turn for the worse when he was diagnosed with lung cancer late in 2015. He has gone through chemotherapy and is currently in Spartanburg Regional recovering from surgery removing part of his right lung. Family and friends along with several churches have tried to help with medical expenses, but they are quite hefty. Spartanburg Regional has been so - so helpful with assistance, but his remaining bill from the chemotherapy is quite large and with this recent surgery and hospital stay it will be unsurmountable. He has completed all his paperwork to go on Medicare July first, but that doesn't help him now, anything you can do would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Ralph Widmyer
