The 2002 Ag Study Tours are both full and we are no longer accepting participants for either the summer or fall tour!

  Dear Agriculture Friend:

I am proud to announce that the 2002 Summer Ag Study Tour to Alaska is confirmed for July 28 – August 6, 2002.  Come join us on this special Ag Study Tour.

Ever since the USA purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867, for less than two cents an acre, the average outsider’s idea of the state has equated it with a giant icebox.  That is not the point in case here.  Alaska is 586,412 square miles and has a very different and diversed agriculture, as well as, being a productive tourist haven.

This ten-day tour will include all aspects of agriculture and agribusiness opportunities.  A diverse itinerary ranging from food processing, livestock operations, field crops, fruits/ vegetables, nurseries to specialty crops, this trip offers everyone a chance to view and learn from those on-site visits.  University personnel and Division of Agriculture staff members from Alaska will accompany our group to answer questions and relate information during the entire trip.

Attached you will find an itinerary covering the entire trip.  As you will see, we have included a little bit of everything while keeping in mind what you feel the purpose of an agricultural tour should encompass; an opportunity to learn new and innovative production and marketing techniques suitable for your operation here in South Carolina.  Along with the itinerary, I have enclosed a participation agreement.

I feel this agricultural tour will be one of our very best.  I encourage you and others to strongly consider your participation.  Act early and reserve your space.  Space is limited to the first 46 people.  As always, spouses are welcome on the tour.  The trip is tax deductible and open to all.

If you need additional information or plan to participate, please contact Roy Copelan, our tour manager, at telephone 803-734-2200.  I look forward to your positive response of our tour and for your continued support of South Carolina agriculture.

With best regards,

Sincerely,
D. Leslie Tindal
