FLORENCE, S.C. - The Department of Motor
Vehicles is testing a program in Clarendon County that allows county
treasurers to handle renewals for vehicle registration and the
issuing of license plate stickers.
Currently, taxpayers can pay to register their vehicles at county
tax offices, but must make a separate trip to a DMV office to get a
copy of the registration and the decal.
But a new computer system will allow the documents to be issued
directly from the county treasurer's office.
This is something our customers have been telling us they wanted
for a long time," Clarendon County Treasurer Matt Evans said. "It's
all about convenience, and we understand that. In this age of
computer technology, it just makes good sense to take the next big
step."
