Governor Sanford signed a bill into law Thursday afternoon in Murrells Inlet.

The new law allows local governments to determine whether or not to allow casino boats to operate in their jurisdiction.

Gambling day cruises along the coast are legal and for years there was little local governments could do when it came to banning them from their area.

Georgetown County Council members say they will have first reading on an ordinance to ban casino boats next Tuesday at their next meeting.
