Nikki Haley! I am a 16 year old from Darlington working for a haunted house. I do not want to waste any of your time so I will cut to the chase. We were running a haunted house called Saint David's Asylum in Society Hill. First, this is not a regular haunted house. The proceeds from the house were going directly to support children with autism. we have been working all October, and we finally paid of all of our expenses so that the busiest week, this week, there would be a zero percent profit and it could all go to charity. Well the fire marshal arrived today and deemed the house "unfit for the public." from what I could remember, there were three things wrong with it: There was flammable plastic, there were no emergency exit lights, and there was no sprinkler system. We would be able to have a fireman by every single door in the school, but that idea was shot down. Buying a sprinkler system is way out of the question, because it costs about $125,000 for the sprinklers, fire alarms, and other related items. From what I understand, the policy used to differentiate a temporary house (i.e. a haunted house) from a regular public facility. This has now changed, and both need a sprinkler system. You are the only person who i believe could help us. These people are not regular workers. They invest about 20 hours minimum every week for a cause that benefits them in no way. These are not paid workers. They faithfully come out every weekend to support children with autism. I am in no way knowledgeable on the subject of politics so I am not sure how much you are able to do, but I beg of you to try to help us. We worked so hard for this, not for ourselves, but for others. Please do not let this be the end of what could have been a great way to give. P.S. I sent this to all the forms I could find, for I am not sure which one will be read the fastest.
