Jesse Jackson is in town to mark a bit of personal history.
Forty-five years ago he and seven other students from sterling high school went into the white only Greenville County Library.
When they tried to sit and read in there.
They were arrested.
Today they were honored at Springfield Baptist Church in Greenville.
Dorris Wright one of the eight arrested, said they were just trying to expose an injustice, "I think our sitting at the library probably was one of those things that make people aware that our parents paid taxes, they were citizens in this city, and made them aware that they were entitled to everything this city is paying for."
Wright says there is still a lot of work that needs to be done toward equality, but large steps start with small ones like her protest in 1960.
