Pampalone District 2 School Bus Driver Boiling Springs,S.C. 505 505 Marchbanks Rd Boiling Springs SC 29316 pjpampalone@gmail.com 585-645-7075 TRAN School Buses Idling at Stops 66.191.192.249 Dear Gov.Haley; I am a school bus driver for my local district in Boiling Springs. There has been what I believe to be, a legitimate concern for me since relocating here to S.C.from Upstate New York. Apparently there is no mandate from the State or the School Districts in S.C. to ensure that the buses when idling at the schools for several minutes, turn off their ignitions. There is a much greater health risk for all, when the buses are allowed to idle for an indeterminate amt. of time. Not to mention the amount of fuel that is expended while the bus is running. Multiplied by every bus in every school district. I'm convinced there would be a considerable amt. of cost savings over time, particularly in light of your newly proposed cuts in the State Budget. I did drive a School Bus for 3 yrs. in New York, and it was readily enforced by all bus drivers and reinforced by the school administrators, at least in my district,to cut off your engines at school,if they were going to idle while waiting for students to load or unload. I don't have any hard data available for you,as far as the health risk factor, but it certainly would save the state monies on fuel, that I'm sure could be utilized for more beneficial and productive means elsewhere. Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this matter, Sincerely, Paul J. Pampalone
