GREENVILLE - The discovery of some documents from bankrupt HomeGold Financial Inc. in an Upstate recycling bin has led investigators to seize computers and papers from a Greenville storage facility.

Investigators said they found a 2000 financial statement, a report to the board of directors and correspondence from HomeGold's attorney in the bin after receiving a tip from some employees of the storage facility.

"I will confirm that the seizure did take place. Beyond that, I can't comment," said Trey Walker, a spokesman for Attorney General Henry McMaster.

Mr. McMaster's office is investigating HomeGold and its Pickens-based subsidiary, Carolina Investors Inc.

About 8,000 South Carolinians lost $275 million when HomeGold filed for bankruptcy protection last year.

Police look into death of teenager

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH - Authorities are investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy suspected of falling two stories at a construction site in Horry County.

Gustavo Hilario's father told investigators that his son hit his head Thursday after falling off his bicycle.

The teen became ill several hours later and died at the hospital, Horry County Coroner Robert Edge Jr. said.

An anonymous phone call to authorities said Gustavo and his father were working with a subcontractor helping to build condominiums when the teenager fell two stories, Mr. Edge said.

Missing Easley man, 36, is found dead

PIEDMONT - The body of a missing 36-year-old Easley man has been found in Anderson County, and police are investigating the case as a homicide, sheriff's Lt. Derek Roland said.

Bryan "Nick" Moore, an antiques dealer in Piedmont, was reported missing to Easley police this week, investigators said.

Easley police said a friend went to check on Mr. Moore at his home and found his car in the driveway. The doors to the home were locked with no one inside.

There were no signs of foul play inside the home, police said.

Lt. Roland said the body was found after authorities received a call Friday from a Department of Natural Resources officer.
