My dad who is 90 and my step mother who is 88 are no longer able to live in their home so we have been dealing with this for a couple of years. They moved into assisted living for a while. My step mother was able to get help from Medicaid while living there. Of course they had to sell the home because NOBODY LIVED THERE and they couldn't keep it up. Not even a year went by and my step mother had to have more skilled nursing so she has been in a nursing home since sometime in May of 2016. Here is where the problem began. I immediately went to work on getting her Medicaid changed over to whatever it needed to be for the nursing home. I jumped through ever hoop, crawled under ever rock, and bowed to everything they asked of me. THREE different times I have had to go to the bank and get print outs of both of their accounts. I had to go to the tax office and get proof that their home was sold at fair market value. The tax office wasn't going to even help me at all!!! I broke down in their office and finally they got someone in there that immediately did what I needed. Every week I have to leave my place of business to go sit in the Medicaid office because they couldn't give me all the TO DOs at one time. A few weeks ago when I FINALLY got a letter saying they had to much assets and turned us down, there was nothing showing me what I needed to do to make this work, so again I had to take time off and go to the office. Meanwhile the bills are piling up at the nursing home. They told me if we have to do this out of pocket it will be $6000.00 a month!!!!! When I went, I was told 3 things to do to make it right! I did them all and some extra. I never heard anything so I went BACK to the office. This time one of the case workers came to the lobby and this is EXACTLY what I was told. "This case has been through so many hands so me and Tiffany are going to sit down together TODAY and go through it and get this done. I am going to work this one myself" I asked her 3 times before I left, "will you call me today? Either way?" she said YES! either way! 3 TIMES!!! I never got a call! What I did get a couple of weeks later was another request for me to get MORE BANK STATEMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!! I got them and Immediately took them back to the office. I sat with Tiffany who told me it looked like there wasn't anything left for me to do. LAST NIGHT I GOT A CALL FROM SOMEONE who tells me they are sending me MORE FORMS!! This has to do with the selling of the house. It is September the 10th!! She said if they approve it, it will only go back to August!!!!! I have already paid May as I was told to do by Tiffany. That means June and July won't be covered! That is just WRONG! If they had not dragged their feet everything could have been done that needed to be done and I wouldn't be about to have a nervous break down! The problem comes down to the home. It was sold under contract for deed. They have no idea what to do with that so they just push it around! now 4 months later they have decided to deal with it!!! I am dealing with my dad being in assisted living too. They are counting all the so called assets but they aren't taking in to consideration that there are still bills to be paid! My dad is fine because he does draw a small VA pension, but this is just ridiculous how long all this is taking and how much time I am having to miss from my place of business to get this done! If I wasn't vigilant and staying on top of it it would NEVER be done! I can't imagine what happens to people less fortunate or who can't just take time off every week from their jobs. One day I went to the office and I was told all the case workers had the day off for employee appreciation day. I wasn't told that was only for 2 hours. I had to take more time off and go back the next day! One4 day I went and they were closed for some silly made up holiday I had never heard of! Confederate's memorial day???? More time off to go back the next day!!!!!!! PLEASE help me get this done!!! and done right so I don't have to go through an appeal or hire a lawyer!!! Thank you for the job you do! Sincerely yours, Elizabeth Hogue 75.138.107.148
