Dear Governor, as a progressive, you and I are often on different pages. Having said that I wanted to tell you how impressed I was during this past year at the way you handled two tragic situations that occurred in our state. The first being the tragedy in Charleston and the second the terrible floods. Your palatable empathy for the victims in the Charleston church and you leadership in the movement to finally remove the confederate flag from the statehouse grounds were highly commendable. Your calm demeanor and clear instructions during the flooding were so reassuring to those who were affected by the storms. 
I know I can count on you to remain steadfast in your resolve to keep the confederate flag from returning to the statehouse grounds and will work to defeat the proposal currently being discussed in our legislature.
