Plan goes to
House
- The S.C. Senate finished its
work on the $5 billion state budget Thursday, sending it to the
House for consideration. What happened Thursday:
Democrats and Republicans could not reach a compromise on how to
raise more money for education and health care. They passed the
budget as is. Per-pupil spending would be $130 million less than
this year, and Medicaid would be about $170 million less than needed
to keep services at this year’s level if the bill becomes law.
