I am very concerned that the bill would require refugees to participate in an online registry. This registry would be open to the public, meaning that anyone would have access to their personal contact information, such as where they live. Given the high levels of Islamophobia we are experiencing, this is very likely to put these individuals in danger. Refugees entering the U.S. have gone through an extensive vetting process. Please do not put them in danger by making their personal contact information public. As the Governor, you have the responsibility to ensure the safety of all of South Carolina's legal residents, including those who are refugees. Sincerely,
