I wanted ask that your office find a way to recognize the SC DOT folks at Shop Road. Tuesday, October 6th, our company was tasked to delivery 20 truckloads of pallet water to SC DOT on Shop Road. The delivery was obviously needed right away. After the trucks were mobilized, I called the SC DOT contact number and spoke to Sam Riddle. As happens a lot in these emergency situations, the communications about the trucks arrival was passed along to Sam and John White differently. Their understanding was the trucks would arrive the NEXT DAY. I told Sam that the tasking was to deliver that day and ...... he had trucks hitting his entrance in 12-16 minutes (we use GPS tracking on our trucks). I told Sam we really wanted to see those trucks unloaded inside the 2-hour free time and avoid SC paying the outrageous detention time rate truck lines charge. In those 12-16 minutes, Sam and the SC DOT folks put together a plan, people and equipment that was nothing short of remarkable. I went to the SC DOT Shop Road myself about 2 hours after the trucks began arriving and witnessed one of the most efficient unloading operations I have seen in 25 years of responding to both military and civilian emergency relief events. My company is in business to provide water but I am also a resident of South Carolina. Seeing our SC DOT operations people work like pros and finish that unloading operation with no detention fees, was a joy. When the time allows, please give the SC DOT folks at Shop Road a pat on the back. They did great and made South Carolina shine. Thank you.
