For a basic overview-I have just copied and pasted my latest timeline below: ~~~~March 11, 2016(Friday): Mitchell fished at Beer Creek Garden landing, he had our cousin and our cousin's female friend on the boat with him. Mitchell had two generators stolen from the landing that night. The next morning as he was leaving, Mitchell put a sign up on the boat ramp with information stating that he would offer a reward for $1000 for return of the generators and listed his cell phone number and home number. He called the Calhoun Falls police department to report the generators stolen. ~~~~March 12, 2016 (Saturday): Mitchell left Lake Hartwell Outdoor Center @ approx 7:15pm. Mitchell arrived at the 7-11 in Calhoun Falls at 9:06pm, 9:09pm bought honey buns and Mt. Dew, 9:14pm and 9:17pm looked out front door of the 7-11, Mitchell talked to the cashiers for approximately 4 mins and left Calhoun Falls 7-11 at 9:21pm. Mitchell left the parking lot and turned right onto the road that heads toward McCormick. (according to the video). Last call was 6:33pm to our cousin. Last text sent from Mitchell's phone at 10:12pm and last text received at 11:31pm per phone records. At some point around 10:56, a random picture was taken with his phone (picture attached). We are still unsure of what this picture is and why it was taken. ~~~~March 13, 2016: Mitchell never delivered his bait and his truck/trailer were discovered at Beer Creek Garden Landing. Mitchell's boss showed up looking for Mitchell and upon arrival, saw that the truck and trailer were still at the landing. He then asked a man who came to the ramp to take him to look for Mitchell. On the morning of March 13, 2016 in the hours between 11am and 12pm-the following items were found: large bucket, coat w/cellphone in pocket, long dip net, gas jug, and cast net in bucket. On the evening of March 13, 2016-The same man who took Mitchell's boss out that morning to look for him, returned with the two generators that was "found" at the landing that Friday night. DNR officers discussed the generators with the gentleman and subject was dropped. DNR does not believe they had anything to do with the disappearance or accident that Mitchell had. ~~~~March 13-15: Over 35 boats, airplane, helicopter, and drones searched for Mitchell and his boat, with nothing new found since day one. ~~~~March 22, 2016: Received picture of actual boat to use in posts ~~~~April 5, 2016: Prayer Vigil held for Mitchell D. Gibson at Sanctuary of Praise Church in Anderson, SC. ~~~~April 8, 2016: Received email in response to acquiring specialty divers. The company currently was unable to look for an aluminum boat and sent me the information for a gentleman that uses a Survey Multi Beam Side Scan Sonar System and that it would probably be of a greater use to us. ~~~~April 10, 2016: I contacted the gentleman who has the Survey Grade Multi Beam System, who is currently out of the country. ~~~~April 24, 2016-Car found at Beer Creek Garden Landing-John Henry Dubose (Missing for 16 years from Calhoun Falls) ~~~~May 4, 2016: Two teams of divers came and searched the dam area and the area where the items were found between markers 14/16 on the lake. ~~~~May 5, 2016: Spoke with someone who is willing to help us search the lake, according to everyone I spoke with, he is the best of the best. He was recommended by those in state and out of state whom I spoke with and he will be returning to town this weekend and we will make official arrangements. ~~~~May 7, 2016: Volunteers requested. 27 Boats. 22 from SC and 5 from GA, 20 of these boats had sidescan/downscan and 15 of these had structure scan. Nothing new was found. ~~~~May 12, 2016: Called Anderson County Sheriff Office asking to speak with anyone to help us get to the next step due to rumors, we still don't have a boat or a body, and just to get some basic help. The gentleman who answered kept trying to send me back to Abbeville Sheriff and DNR who already know about the situation. ~~~~May 14, 2016: Notified that a fisherman found an object that may be a boat. Waiting on Dive team to determine. ~~~~May 15, 2016: Dive Team determined that it was a boat, yet it was an older boat that had been sunk for a brush pile. PLEASE understand that I am NOT SAYING that Mitchell and the boat ARE NOT in the water, what I am saying is that without a boat or a body, something else needs to be done, from my understanding, there has never been a case where you didn't have one of the 3 factors: A boat, a body or a witness seeing a body go in the water. DNR has been doing a great job, they go out every day, they contact us every time anything at all comes up, you really do have the best of the best working at Lake Richard B Russell as far as Rhett, Chris Bensel and Sean Lauter. DNR fully believes that my brother, Mitchell D Gibson, is in that water and I don't doubt there word, yet what if he isn't and we do nothing? What will it really hurt to have someone investigate the rumors that are abounding around this situation. DNR has went above and beyond and I feel as if there isn't anything more they could be doing, Abbeville County Sheriff Office has made a few attempts to help, I am not 100% sure how far they have gotten. Yet, Mitchell was a resident of Anderson Co, all of the rumors are around people in Anderson Co and without a boat or a body, you start assuming and asking yourself if the rumors are correct? Today is 9 weeks and 1 day since we were notified he was missing, 64 long days. According to what I have been told, there was a meeting at one point with SLED, Abbeville Co and DNR, and while Anderson was asked to come, they did not show up. Anderson does not want to work with any other county. You can talk to any neighboring agency and for the most part, it is being told this way, whether or not it is true, is not for me to decide. I have decided to email you in hopes of getting something done, getting some help from somewhere and I don't know what else to do at this point. The parents of Mitchell Gibson, my mom and stepfather, have asked me to do everything within my power to get us help, this is all I could think of. As far as DNR is concerned, you could not have provided us with any greater group of officers, they have been there and worked with us and went above and beyond. Please let them know when you can how very much we appreciate all that they have done! If you need to contact us at any time: Please call Angie Gibson-864-352-6685 or 864-309-2193 or myself at 864-276-1816. 74.254.77.254
