DNR to receive more than $1 million in federal grants

Associated Press

The state Department of Natural Resources will receive more than $1 million to preserve wetlands and upgrade equipment from the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration.

A $670,173 grant will help restore 10,500 acres of wetland habitats on Bear Island Wildlife Management Area, Donnelley WMA and the ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge.

Another $507,674 will help DNR workers use high-tech equipment to analyze the state's shellfish resources and create maps for use by DNR and others.
