It is long overdue. I am white but I have long felt that this flag is a symbol of what divides us and it is a symbol of hatred. There are no arguments that justify keeping it. Many have said it belongs in a museum and I agree. This will send a powerful message of unity and is a small gesture of respect to those who lost their lives last week. It will also honor the many others who have died in this state because of racial hatred. This flag has been flaunted in the faces of black South Carolians; it's time. You are a person of color and must also know what it is like to experience bigotry. Please do this and take a tall stand against hatred. Respectfully, Peggy Landers
