(CLEMSON)---The summer meeting of the annual SC Beekeepers Association was held at Clemson on July 13-15, 2000. Beekeepers from around the state learned about small hive beetle control, other bee diseases and pest problems, marketing honey and other bee products. A SC Master Beekeeper Program Certified and Journeyman level practical and written tests were also given after a beekeeping short course.
The Lowcountry Beekeepers Association was recognized for their unparralled attendance record at the SC Beekeepers Association meetings. For 5 out of the past 6 years, Lowcountry has had the most people attending the meeting. Even though the organization has the longest distance to travel to the meetings, it has the best attendance of any other beekeepers association in the state. Hat’s off to the Lowcountry Beekeepers Association for their effort to “bee” a shining example to other associations in the state, beekeepers and other agricultural related organizations.
