News13 continues to update the continued Grand Strand growth. The Market Common project on the old Air Force base and the Pavilion area downtown Myrtle Beach are all progressing.
Another eagerly awaited project is the Hard Rock Park. The park is going up along Highway 501 behind the old Waccamaw Pottery. Progress continues on the new 140-acre theme park.
Company representatives said the project is running on time. Currently there are two steel frame structures started, as well as a block building. The main project at this time is to finish the site preparation by installing electrical and plumbing.
The representative also told News 13 that the existing businesses running along the edges of the park will stay. However, the old Waccamaw Mall building 3 will go to make room for the park.
Company officials report the 400-millon dollar project is expected to employee 3,000 people, attracting nearly 30,000 visitors a day during peak season.
Representatives also confirmed they plan to open what they call a preview center in April This will be a backstage tour of the project for people to follow the progress.
