From Farrington High School, I'm writing this because I think we need a retrial for George Stanley. I want a retrial because it wasn't fair enough of a trial for him and his family. The court was full of white people that just wanted him dead. Also he was just 14 weighing at 95 pounds, how was he able to carry a railroad spike all by himself and murder the two girls? Lastly his attorney didn't want to defend Stanley, he just said "I have nothing to say." The trial was only 10 minutes long which is shorter then nowadays trials. This time around I still see innocent African American become guilty for something they did. They need justice and less discrimination from all the whites. Well people may think you shouldn't reopen the trial because he's already dead. Well just think you lived back then and you were the one accused, your family is scared from the KKK, would you want to have a retrial? I would. Think about it, He was also given 2 stupidly reasons he could be guilty, "He killed the girls in self-defense" the other "He chased them down into the woods and attacked them." I would be ashamed because of this reasoning, He was with his sister the whole time. Thank you Governor Haley for taking your time to read my letter. Sincerely, Jay Macalma
