I am a reporter with South Carolina Lawyers Weekly newspaper and am going to put together a very short article contrasting the views of concealed carry laws in our region and in the West. As you may know, the 9th Circuit ruled today that the Second Amendment does not give citizens the right to carry concealed weapons in public. The case was appealed by a San Diego resident who was denied a permit by the sheriff there because apparently the sheriff requires a "good reason" to carry a concealed weapon. For example, a celebrity who may be the target of an attack. South Carolina, as you clearly know, just entered into a reciprocation agreement with Georgia, a state whose permits we have previously not honored because of the lack of training required. This shows, I believe, a stark contrast in views about the Second Amendment and gun rights. I wondered if the governor's office could provide a statement on this contrast and/or, alternatively, why it chose finally to recognize Georgia's permits. For the record, I am a South Carolina concealed weapons permit holder. Thanks so much for your time. Should you need further information or wish to contact me, please feel free to do so. Best, Heath Hamacher
