Subject: Tax Reform

Dear Nikki:

Here's what I wish you would propose as a comprehensive tax reform plan:

1. End all property tax on homeowner occupied homes. We should finally own our own homes.

2. End all tax on income. We are not supposed to be slaves and we should own ourselves and the product of our labor.

3. Cut all business/corporate tax in half and apply equally to every business. Permanently end all exemptions (from taxes or regulations) and permanently end all subsidies for individual businesses or branches of industry. Businesses would flock here if they all had one low rate they could count on and we would not then be extorted for more money every time they thought about moving here or leaving. Jobs would come to stay.

4. Cut out all exemptions for the state retail sales tax and reduce it. Cite the equal protection clause of the S.C. Constitution as legal basis. Instruct the Attorney General to prepare a case for the S.C. Supreme Court if the general assembly does not like the idea. (That would cut out a LOT of corruption!)

5. Cut out all sin taxes (such as alcohol and cigarettes) and cut out all special taxes and fees (such as for gasoline and house sales) and then apply the sales tax equally to these and every other product purchased retail. Again, this would be applying the concept of "equality under the law" to prevent punishment or rewards being ushered through the law making process.

6. Force all county tax rate changes or new taxes to go through the respective county's council for approval to create one body to be held responsible for any changes in tax rates at the local level.
